Woke up at 7:00 feeling hungry.  Maybe I can eat at 7:30 when the breakfast opens and then go back to bed.  I want to look up the Royal Zanzibar Resort wen I get home.  It has to be SOOOO expensive.  We walked through the entire propertyand only saw a couple of people.  The next resort was just as posh but I don't know the name; Playa something.  Even the security guard was afraid we would see the manager and he would get in trouble becase we did not have on a special ribbon.  What a crazy experience!  Went to breakfast and waiting for us was mixed tropical fruit juice, eggs, toast, a piece of watermelon, pineapple, and banana.  I gobbled the food like a pig ans was still hungry.  Victor joined us for breakfast, then we walked the beach looking for shells.  Ernie and Marlene were going to walk along the beach all the way to town.  They had to start back by 12:00 or they would get stuck by the tide.  We went back to the room and did some laundry,  hanging it out to dry. Then we got on our swim suits and headed down to the water to try to snorkel.  There were lots of jellyfish at first and Miles tried to test the waters while I waited.  I didn't know how my body would react to a jellyfish sting, and I didn't want Africa to be my testing ground.  He saw some neat stuff so I decided to join him.  Besides jellyfish we saw starfish, sea anenome, clownfish, trumpet fish, big orange fish, and some other fish.  There were lots of sea urchins too.  It started to rain while we were in the water, but we weren't effected.  When we got out of the water it was windy and rainy so we went back to the room and showered off.  We took a nap until noon then headed to lunch.  We split garlic bread and a pizza.  It was a rather thin/plain cheese pizza.  I ate a granola bar at lunch and we had a little time before our dive.  We got down to the dive shop a little early and were given fins, a weight belt, and wetsuit.  They hooked up our BCD to the air for us.  We loaded up in the boat (Miles and I appeared to have our own divemaster).  We rode over to the fancy resort that we had been escorted through the night before and picked up 4 snorkelers and their guide.  The boat had 2- 150 horsepower engines and was really fast.  We went to Mnewa Mnewa dive site off a little island you could see from Zanzibar.  We dia a back roll of the side of the boat.  I had trouble going down at first, but then once I started to descend it was ok.  Right away we saw a purple frogfish which blended into the coral.  The visibility wasn't what we were used to but it was still nice.  We also saw lionfish, moray eels, coachmen, butterfly fish, a school of barrachuda, whipray, blue spotted ray, clownfish, sea anenome, yellow snapper, triggerfish, porcupine fish, banded mantis shrimp, cuttle fish, flat worms, sea cucumbers, urchins, and starfish that were very different than any we had seen diving before.  The juvenile emperor angefish was really awesome.  The biggest thing that we saw was a ray.  It was almost 4 feet across.  There were lots of really small fish as well.  We finished the dive at 55 minutes and the boat came to pick us up.  We looked through the identification books when we got back to the hotel.  Then we went back to the room and cleaned up a little.  We brought the snorkeling equipment back to the beach because Victor had never tried it and we brought the sports equipment.  First, we kicked around the soccer ball and I felt very out of my league.  One goy joined in but it was only to try to see us an excursion.  We got closer together so we could try to keep the ball int he air but that didn't last very long.  We started playing volleyball.  We ended up with 3 on 3. There were lots of other people around but no others wanted to join in the game.  Then it started getting hot, so we needed a swimming break.  Victor started learning to snorkel but it is a little bit of a process I guess.  I think Victor thought he was going to drown.  I think that we assume people living that close to the ocean know how to swim, but that is a bad assumption.  We went to shower then walked up to a little produce stand selling oranges.  We got 5 oranges for 1000 TSH which is about 65 cents.  Then we walked to the resort next door which was called Kendwa Rocks and we both ordered a special.  Miles got the blue marlin in cream sauce which looked like really thick clam chowder and I got chicken stir fry.  Miles got a side of rice and mine was french fries.  After dinner we used the internet for 30 minutes  We headed back to the room and I was so tired from all the day brought that I couldn't hold my head up to write in the journal any longer.
