Home alone in New York as Mary and Aaron went to Boston for a night to meet up with some friends. Once again it was a beautiful yet cool day- we have been very lucky with the weather so far. As it was such a lovely day we decided to go on the Circle Line cruise around Manhattan Island. The hats, gloves, coats and beanies were donned and on top of the boat off we went around Manhattan. Another great way to see this magnificent city, a terrific close up look at Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, both of which are closed at the moment due to hurricane Sandy. We saw all the bridges and the new Yankee Stadium. Many more photos were taken, can't wait for slide night when we get home!
We were very cold when we got off the boat so on the bus to Times Square and we warmed up in M & M world, crazy store full of over priced M & M's and many more things to spend money on.
We thought we might try to see the Rockefeller Center again as the crowds were more manageable tonight than last weekend. We got a great look at the tree and the ice skating rink and off we went up to the top of the Rock. The view was magnificent with all the lights sparkling brightly, another really wonderful aspect of the city. It was very cold on top of the building so we weren't there for a long time, warmed up on the way down in the building and we walked up 5th avenue and looked at all the decorations on the buildings and in the street, it was all very beautiful. We found FAO Schwartz and had a look inside as there was no line up tonight - Awesome shop with awesome things.
We were very tired after another big day and headed home for a rest. We slept in the next day as we needed to slow down a little, the boys are getting a bit exhausted. A shopping day is on the agenda today, the boys want to buy some things, headphones, some souvenirs and Christmas decorations for the apartment.
During the day we stumbled upon the public Library, another magnificent building near Bryant Park one of our favourite places so far. A last bit of shopping before dinner and then home to greet Mary and Aaron from their Boston trip.
