Where I stayed
Harold and Peggy's house
On Saturday morning (9/20) we said so long to Rick and Robin as they pulled out of the RV park in Harrison, AR. We had a great time again and saying good bye was tough. We will see them again at Christmas time for the holidays in Algonquin.
Ruth and I headed south to pick up the road to Mountain Home, as Harold has given us a good route to West Plains. It is about 100 miles from Harrison to West Plains and the trip was very scenic. The directions were great and we pulled into the Jackson's about 11:30am.
Scrappy and Patches greeted us from the yard as we walked towards the house. Peggy was there and Harold was in town, but returned shortly. We took a drive around historic West Plains. It is a very nice town of about 12,000, surrounded by farmland and beautiful wooded areas.
On Sunday we went for a drive to the historic Hodgson and Dawt mills, both of which need repair from the recent high water and the floods of 2002. They are really neat, but neither is capable of turning the mill or the paddles in the streams.
This is a great visit that we have been looking forward to for a long time. Harold and Peggy were wonderful neighbors and we have missed them. Of course the hospitality is terrific. We parked the 5th wheel in front of the shop where it is inside a fence, plugged into electric to run the fridge. Ruth and I stayed in the guest rooms where Patches can act as alarm clock.
Monday we will drive to Eminence MO to see my cousin Linda about 70 miles northeast of here.
