The busride from Colonia to Montevideo (the capital of Uruguay) took me 2.5 hours. I didn't really see much from the countryside as I was sleeping almost the whole time... hi hi... Don't know what's wrong with me but as soon as I get on a bus or car I fall asleep within 2 minutes!
Walking around the city was crazy because a) it was freaking hot (35 degrees), b) because there were ridiculously many people in the streets and shops ...and c) because I heard Xmas music EVERYWHERE - and this with this hot weather!! Weird...
About the city I can just tell you that I liked it. It's very similar to BA, just a little smaller. The streets are jammed and polluted but the oldtown was quite cute and relaxing.
Unfortunately I didn't buy anything, although shopping was the purpose of this trip. But I just couldn't find anything nice... or enough nice to be bought.
Anyway, I got back to Colonia by 9pm and had a (dissapointing) Quiche for dinner. At this time it was still 30 degrees and I was very happy having an air condition in my room!
