So we arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam this morning. We started our trip like true backpackers and took he local bus from the airport. It was a good experience, we got to see lots of the country side. The buildings here are very interesting. They are about 4-5stories but very narrow and packed side by side. We arrived at our hostel and we were greated by the nicest Vietnamese man, who got us all settled, and told us the places to see in Hanoi. So we went to a traditional water puppet show. It was interesting to see, not really that exciting. Basically, it is wooden puppets that are used to act out a show on water. As far as puppet shows go it was very well done. From there we walked around a bit and had supper. We booked a 3 day 2 night boat trip at ha long bay, this is something we had planned to do, so we are excited. It is supposed to be a spectacular trip with lots of scenery.
The money here is very hard to get used to, it is about 16000 VND to 1 USD. So groceries cost us 130,000 dollars. It is probably the only time I will type 5 million into an ATM.
Anyways we are heading to bed. Our 4am wake up this morning for our flight today is hitting us. Goodnight and we will fill you in on our halong bay cruise when we ge back

Thanks for the update. Enjoy your excursion , can hardly wait for pictures of course. You guys have been spoiling us with pictures and I like it.
