So I've had an interesting time learning and getting the hang of things for my catering job. Talk about a learning curve. I made up a menu for the group coming in, and hit a snag when I got one of the order days wrong with a supplier causing me to re-work my menu. A bit funnier mistake I made now has me in possession of the largest bag of onion I've ever seen. I saw Large Onions listed on a supplier list and assumed I could order them individually. The next morning I went into the delivery room to find an epic bag of onions. Good things I only ordered one. Funny thing is onions are one of my least favorite foods. Guess I'll be acquiring a taste for them.
Here in Edinburgh we're gearing up for festival month in August. Edinburgh is known internationally for festival month. There's the international festival as well as fringe festival, the book festival and probably many other festivals I'm leaving out. The city will be full of people going to the hundreds of theatre performances, music, art events and many pubs/clubs are open later too. I'm pretty excited to be here to experience it.
John and I are planning to take a trip at some point in August. Probably Perth for a night or two as I've never been there and I'm excited about the Andy Warhol exhibit their museum/art gallery has on right now. We were thinking about going to Oban, but I've already been there and planning to take my mom again when she comes in November. When I go on trips with John I like places like Oban or York because there are things to do, but you don't feel like you're missing out if you want to relax or take a stroll part of the time. We were thinking of London too, but definitely not a relaxing place to go and way expensive. I do plan to go down to London again at some point, maybe this fall. John's representing Scotland in a national theatre project down there over the next several months and he also had a profile done on him in the evening newspaper today. I'm so proud of him!
That's all for now. I'll try to be better about updates. Shout out to Andy Tix for harassing me for updates. It was a good reminder. ;)
