Here we are in Crete.  Just got in from afternoon coffee at a cafe near the lagoon near where our ship is berthed.

This morning we took a tour to see the palace of Knossos.  It was built and rebuilt from 3000 BC to Greek and Roman times.  As I was amazed by that marble bowl in the museum in Santorini, I was equally impressed with the high level of art, technology and architecture in the early Minoan culture.    They were a peace-loving people who lived happily there for a thousand years until they started getting overrun by everyone- Greeks, Ottomans, Romans.  Their goddess was Demeter and they were a female oriented culture.   Of course, I like that!

Just wanted to ask you all to email me at my coxmail address for the rest of the trip ( if you are going to send an email for more personal talk).  Of course, you can comment here on Travelpod and I will get the messages, as will everyone who reads this blog.  Turkey does not recognize ATT data plans for my I Phone so texts and email and internet will cost a small fortune.  I can check my coxmail account from the ship though with no problem.

Tomorrow we go to Rhodes.  I love the beauty of all of this but Frank  is in hog heaven with the history!

Sounds like a perfect combination of history and beauty--just my type of trip! Are you seeing any of the political strife/strikes we hear about here in the news?
