Where I stayed
Song of the day: Parklife - Blur
"All the people
So many people
They all go hand in hand
Hand in hand through their parklife "
Oh western civilization how I have missed you. To know that the toilet will not be squat, to have access to any type of shop you need and to walk down the street without fear of being mugged. And to not stand out like a sore thumb.
Berlin really could be any city in the world these days. Except for the huge remains of a wall and a huge memorial to the murdered Jews. Once you get out of the main tourist area you could be in Brisbane or Melbourne or London. Which is just what I'm wanting right now. The sites are amazing but it's nice to feel like you are home.
We spent a lot of time just hanging out in the main park on the center of the city (hence the song of the day). We weren't aware that the park was clothing optional. When we started walking around we noticed a lot of people just lying around sun baking fully naked. Kinda freaky.
We went to the zoo which is surprisingly impressive and so half my photos are of animals.
The time not spent in the zoo or the park was mostly spent shopping. Don't worry I saw all the sights but I also bought some totally awesome sunglasses and tried on a corset.
We have given up trying to learn the languages and though it may seem arrogant we just speak English to people. 99% they speak English to and the other 1% say they only speak a little, so we are getting by. Though I have said to mum that I am going to kiss the ground when I reach London, because it will be the first time in 8 months we have been a country where English is the first language.
Now I'm sitting at train station waiting for my train to Prague. So I guess I will talk to you all from there.
