Song of the day: Monkey gone to heaven - The Pixies

"if man is 5

then the devil is 6

then god is 7

this monkey's gone to heaven"

So I have seen a fair amount of monkeys in the last 2 weeks, so I had to pick the most awesome song I know that featured monkeys.  Plus this clip has a cartoon done by Damon Albarn (Gorillaz co-creater) about one of the best shows of all time Monkey magic.  So it is especially apt for my monkey tribute.

So I haven't got long left in Japan, only 3 more weeks.  I do like this country but I am looking forward to going somewhere where I don't stand out so much.

After we last chatted I have been very busy.  I went to a public art performance in roppongi, you will have to watch the video, it is very hard to explain what happened, but in short it entailed at least a thousand people following around these large inflated people with lights in their head as they danced around the roppongi park.  very surreal.

After that I went to Fuji-Q highlands to try out some of their roller coasters.  We really only got on 1 (as the line was 2 hours long) before they were shut down due to snow.  We went on some other rides, but I chickened out of the zombie place.  Though I stand by the fact that the line was 2 and half hours long and you had to pay extra to go, that's why I didn't go I swear.

Caroline, mum and I spent the night down in kawaguichiko and the next day looked around but again it was snowing so we didn't want to go outside too much.  We saw the monkey show, which was fantastic, I had seen it before and I don't think they have changed it much but I didn't mind, it was monkeys.

This week I went away with mum to the west side of the island and saw more monkeys.  These ones were chilling in the hot springs.  I left my camera battery at home so I had to steal mum's camera and take as many photos as possible of the monkeys.  I have only put up a small fraction of the photos I actually took.

We stayed in a ryokan there which had hot springs so we spent a lot of time bathing, just like the monkeys.  It was relaxing.

Then off to Kanazawa, where all the cherry blossoms were in bloom.  The weather was perfect and scenery was spectaular.  I again stole mum's camera and went a bit crazy with the cherry blossom photos.  We also went to the ninja temple, it had lots of little hidden passages and stairways, I didn't see any ninjas, but that doesn't mean they weren't there, right.

Takeno arrives in 1 week and Pat is coming to visit in 2 weeks and then we leave in 4 weeks, it's all going so quickly. I hope everyone is having fun in their respective locations, talk to you all soon.
