We left Cassino for Rome in the mid-afternoon by regional train. From Rome we connected with another regional train that brought us to "la stazionne di Cisterna di Latina", the closest train station to the town of Cori. We spentthe next 3 days visiting family in Cori.
Cori is an old roman town nestled in the mountains 50 km south of Rome. It a small quaint town where everyone knows everyone. Life is very relaxed in this area and the people are extremely friendly. Most of my uncle's friends have been waiting for "Lei Canadesses" for a few days.
A walk around the town's piazza was like being at home. Strangers as well as non-strangers would stop you and say ciao and present themselves. My uncle has lived in the town for over 50 years and he knows and is known by everyone. My cousins and their families still live in Cori.
Within a half-hour drive from Cori, one reaches the bigger cities of Aprilia and Latina, that have much shopping and open markets. The beaches at Anzio or less than an hour away. Unfortunately, we did not go to the beach even if it was sunny and hot the 3 days we spent in Cori.

did u know of any caratelli's in cori
No sorry. My relatives in Cori have the family name Paluzzi.
Did your uncle know of the Pistilli's or the Castaldi's. My grand parents imigrated to the US in the 1930's to Powhaton Pt. Ohio, along with the Ducci's. My Nona's name was Josephina Castaldi and my Nono's was Mariano Pistilli. I would like to contact any relatives I have in Cori, Italy and see my Nona's birthplace. Her brother's name was John Castaldi who also imigrated to the same town in Ohio.
Hi Christina,
Unfortunately my uncle passed away in late June. He was known by almost everyone and he seemed to know everyone in Cori. My uncle was born in the small town of Supino, near the city of Frosinone. He moved to Cori in the late 50s. I will ask my cousins if they know your relatives.
Savarino,
My great grandmother was in a wheelchair due to some kind of wagon accident on their farm. My mother told me she had both her legs amputated. I do have a picture of her with a coral beaded necklace that I now have. We are talking late 1800's. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. The only other information I have is my mother's cousins own an Italian car dealership somewhere.
Thank you,
Christina
I remembered the dealership was an Alfa Romeo.
