Flag of Bahamas  , New Providence Island,
Monday, March 12, 2012

This morning we got in the dink and motored a couple of miles south of here to where Stan & Kathy took Vespera yesterday morning. The anchorage is called Pipe Creek or the "pipes." Although much of the enclosed water is shallow or dries at low tide, there are deeper channels on both inner sides. It is an area of almost unbelievable water color, everything from white to turquoise to sapphire blue. The chartbook says "this area by dingy is not to be missed." On the way there we passed a huge mansion complete with three windmills that Lee found out each can power 75 homes. The mansion is owned by an oil baron. We found Vespera and went aboard for coffee and then they took us to a trail along the beach across from them that led up the mangrove hills to the Atlantic. What a spectacular view! Later we got in our dingy and motored back to Savage before low tide set in. We are learning so much from so many cruisers, especially Stan & Kathy. We feel like beginners and that is what we are. We will make sure we pay it forward and teach and help others from now on.
