After a leisurely start to the day, I headed down to the beach for my second surf lesson with Aggha. The lesson didn't go amazingly well to start with, but towards the end, he threw me into to larger and sharper waves, and I survived! I’m so glad I made myself take up surfing lessons and it’s been such great fun to try out!

After a lively start to the day, I headed out into town for some present buying for the family. Bali is a great place for gifts and you’re spoilt for choice with the numerous crafts shops down every street. They serve up a variety of interesting things such as dolls, masks, Biket cloth (though I now regret not buying from the French guy in Siem Reap now), sculptures and much more besides. There is also something for any price range. You can pick us some unique and well crafted products for that bit extra, or you can route out a bargain in many of the family run shops and stalls.

After a good look around in Legian, I settled on a lovely Rama & Sita set of puppets for my parents as well as some stone sculptures. I also picked up a few traditional Indonesian masks for various people. I have no idea how I’m going to get these all home though. Some creative packing is in order!

After returning from my gift buying exploits, a few of us from the Island headed down to the beach to catch sunset. After sunset, Mark, Michel & I went for dinner at Tekor Bali, a place recommended by the Island. This is a restaurant located just off Legian beach and specialises in fish. This was the best food I’ve had all trip. I went for the swordfish in lemon and thyme for the main course and I’ve never had a fish course like it! This is saying a lot for someone who doesn’t really dine out on fish. The food here is seriously impressive and well worth a try!

Things were fairly quiet in the Island tonight, many people were catching up on some well needed sleep.
