Where I stayed
Hidden Oasis & Spa
Today was my final day in Kuta before I moved town the coast to my preferred destination of Legian.
Today saw more of the same with relaxing and socialising on the beach. Today there was a real treat for us travellers though. During the afternoon, was got to see a precession along the beach by the Balinese Hindus. Both men and women were in traditional attire and walked slowly up the beach, with wonderful calming music being played. The precession then had a service at the end of the beach for a good few hours, with music being played throughout. Towards the end of the service, offerings were made to the sea. This has been one of the great things about Bali over the past few days, you don't need to go far to experience Balinese culture, you are immersed in it as soon as you get here!
Towards sunset, there was a good crowd on the beach and a friendly football game broke out in which many joined in.
After football, I headed into town for food and joined some Swiss travellers in a cramped but highly rated restaurant just outside my hostel. This is quite an easy place to come and meet new people!
Bali has turned out to be the perfect place to end my time away, although you do need to watch out for some of the rowdy and arrogant Aussies out in the bars, but that’s easy enough.
