we hit a new milestone. Walnut, IA was the spot we went over 3000 miles on this trip. Thx to our bonus jaunt into the mountains of Colorado, we far exceeded our planned mileage of 2600. The kids have been absolute troopers. Not once have we heard a whine about the time spent together or the infamous "are we there yet?". They ask where we are going or when we arrive at our hotel or if they can swim tonite. Thank goodness for pools, hot tubs, and free breakfasts. I would bet we will eat a light first meal of the day for a while tho! Lots of waffles consumed!

Now it's corn as far as the eyes can see and we will stop for lunch in about an hour at Des Moines before our last shot homeward. We learned a lot, saw a lot, lived a lot, and already look forward to finishing this Route 66 trek some summer down the road (preferably before J&N finish high school!).
