Well, we made it to Colorado Springs today. We spent the morning exploring Beaver Creek ski resort, it was really hopping with people today. This is a really great place in the summer time too, exactly what you would expect a ski resort to look like, very European. I could see spending some time in the future here, maybe a future summer trip.
The drive from Avon to Colorado Springs was also very beautiful, which I have come to expect now when I drive through Colorado. Lots steep, windy roads with a surprisingly large number of cyclists. These people are insane trying to ride up these mountain roads (and back down). I chatted with 3 of them from Wisconsin Dells while I was getting gas, they said that they were only riding 100 miles today. Ugh. I jumped back in my car and continued driving towards Colorado Springs thinking I was glad that I was in a car and not on a bike.
Time for lunch by the pool before we head to the train ride up to 14,600 feet.
Later.

This is just wonderful for those of us stuck at home. Feels like I am right there with you. So many great pictures. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Have fun and Stay Safe!
Glad you are taking a train up the mountain rather than try to drive it. Very hard on cars that aren't specially equipped for it. Let them do the driving so you can enjoy the scenery. Hope the day is clear so you can see all there is to see, something we missed in the snowstorm we encountered there.
