Hello all my family and friends!!
I am doing very well! It is my fourth week here! I feel like I have made a small breakthrough in my french language learning! It's a tough language to understand, especially when a native talks; they speak so fast! We haven't gone on too many trips in the last week. I have mostly been studying and hanging out with some of the different people in our group. Last friday, I went with one of my teachers to a horse barn to pick up her daughter from horseback riding class! I loved seeing all the different horses they had! I have met several people that live around the area and these acquaintances have made me feel more comfortable with staying for the year.
This past sunday we went to Chamonix and saw Mount Blanc..it was a gorgeous view..truly magnificent. It is called Mount Blanc because it is covered in snow all year round. (blanc=white in french)
Today we went to CERN in Geneva. Here is some information about it: "CERN began in the 1950s as the European Organization for Nuclear Research. Today it is also known as the European Laboratory for Particle Physics. It is one of the world's most prestigious research centres. Its business is fundamental physics - finding out what makes our Universe work, where it came from and where it is going. Some of the world's biggest and most complex machines are used to study nature's tiniest building blocks, the fundamental particles. By colliding these minute particles of matter physicists unravel the basic laws of nature."
Well, it was very interesting..and afterwards a few people and I had a discussion about how the world started..there were a couple theology students there so it was a lively debate!
