I wanted to leave from Tucson early enough to make it for sunset at the Grand Canyon. We have been pretty spontaneous and this was the same deal. I didn't pre-reserve anything. When we got there, the campgrounds were FULL. I stopped at a cliff and Chris got to go out, and see the Grand Canyon for the first time while I dealt with hotel people trying to get a room in one of the many lodges on the South rim, I didn't want to taint my first view with any of that. I managed to get the LAST room in the entire park. A little pricey but totally worth it considering our options, or lack there of.

We quickly got our room and went outside and I saw it for the first time. Just amazing. Beautiful. Unbelievable and indescribable. We watched the sunset but since there were clouds, it wasn't what I expected, or wanted, but I enjoyed it the same. In it's own beauty.

The next morning I wanted to get up in time for sunrise. I honestly thought the trail on the edge would have been packed, since it was along all of the lodges, full of tourists. But we were pretty much alone, with some people wandering by every few minutes. We walked a bit, then found a spot and just looked. I just remember looking at everything. Taking everything in and just enjoying the beauty. Again, it was cloudy, so it wasn't the sunrise I wanted, or expected, but I enjoyed for it's own beauty.

We left early because this was supposed to be our long day of driving. We stopped at a few lookouts to see different parts of the canyon. Again, just amazing.

Driving around and eventually out of the canyon was beautiful. I just kept imaging the water that was here, shaping all of this.
