Motorcycle: 143 miles; a service day at Indian of Fresno. 12,500 miles service done at 13,220 miles..

It's a chilly start but it's high 90's before the day is done. A magnificent day of travel on rte 152 west and 99 south out of Gilroy to Fresno. Now this is motorcycle country....rolling hills, grassy fields and gorgeous roads. Nut trees, grape vines, garlic fields and more surround us. The San Luis Reservoir greets us around a corner and the beautiful site calls us to stop and take a few pictures. Romero Overlook off rte 152 nestled in the grassy hills of the San Joaquin Valley. President Kennedy inaugurated this pristine water project. It is located in Pacheco pass. We end up at Indian of Fresno, CA before noon.

The Herwadlt family has a large operation that sells and services Indian, Triumph, Ducati, and BMW motorcycles. We are greeted with water by one of the owners, Matt. The service manger, Steve, gets our info and sets us up for service. Luvern is the V-Twin man. He performs our 12,500 mile service. Then he educates us on the importance of owning an Indian, all the while talking softly to the Chief when I express a concern regarding her. Luvern is a true Master Mechanic. Harley certified at the highest level, but is in love with Indian. Only two years Mark's senior, however, he has a lifetime of motorcycle experience. What an experience... this man is awesome and Indian of Fresno took care of us as if we were customers for 100 years. Thanks Herwaldt Motorsports. There are few gems in this country and he is one of them. Mark and he immediately bond. We suspect that he and his wife will visit SC for a little round white ball chasing and riding. California is eating him alive. Let's not get into politics, however, the Southeast is looking pretty good to him!

We settle in to the Country Inn & Suites At 4:00pm to plan our attack on Yosemite tomorrow.
