Today Sami and I went to the Parc Guell, which is the work of a famous Barcelona artist, Antoni Gaudi. We enjoyed strolling through this park and taking in the scenery. The highlight for us were the breathtaking views of the city with the landmark La Sagrada Familia in the background. Also, there were some of the most amazing artists in this park as well which were just as remarkable as the architecture.
After this stroll in the park, Sami and I wandered down the narrow streets just outside of the park. There we found Bar Bodega Costa Brava. This was a local spot and we tried to blend in as much as possible. A little hard, but Sami's Spanish is getting better each day, so I let him do all the talking.
Today was also the first day that Sami and I tried the metro. We found that this is an easy and comfortable way to travel the city, and also, there were more really great musicians here.
We set out to find a restaurant recommended by our new local friend Jimmy for dinner. This was La Paradeta. They have all kinds of fresh fish and shellfish that you select up front while it's still raw, and then they prepare each item for you and call your number when ready. The food is very straight forward, no fluff, but good and worth the long wait in line.
After dinner we explored the area know as Born, which is a collection of narrow cobblestone streets. This area is much more upscale. The people, the shops, the restaurants, all reflect a much higher caliber of society. We had a great time here, and would recommend popping into one of the many venues who provide live music.
