The journey can only be described as long! It would have been ok if we could have gone the shortest route, but without a 4x4 this is impossible. So we took a number of buses and a boat arriving at our destination at 3pm after leaving at 430am. We spent the rest of the day eating and walking along the beach.

The following day we were up early again to catch the bus to the first National Park of Costa Rica, which up until the mid 80s did not allow visitors. We walked 5km to a deserted beach where we had our usual bread/salad/cheese combo before the gruelling walk back. On our travels we managed to see monkeys, butterflies, lizards, birds etc. Arriving back at the rangers park we realised we had missed the bus back and there was not another for 3 hours or so, so we decided to walk the 11km ourselves. An excellent idea we thought! We stopped off on our route home to hopefully visit a cemetry that was literally an island, however with our luck it was low tide so we could only look at it from afar.  We also stopped briefly at some waterfalls but not for long as by this point we just wanted to be back at the hostel and take our boots off. Needless to say we had an early night again!
