We arrived at this villa style house that had been built entirely by our host, Zeneli. We went throught the formal greeting process, and were given Turkish coffee. Basically an espresso shot with lots of sugar, I really liked it! Zeneli proudly showed us his photos, and I think I managed to 'ooh' and 'aah' in the right places. They gave us a shot of the national drink, raki with lunch. You're meant to clink glasses and say 'gazoa' before every sip. Couldn't finish it though, it tasted like a lethal mix of sambuca and vodka. After lunch, Kaye kindly volunteered us to share our testimonies. They reallz appreciated us coming, they couldnt believe we'd come all the way from England to visit them (!)
Back in town, we had another team meal, which was good to catch up with people and see how everyone's days had been. Jamie had a traditional Albanian dessert afterwards- rice with cinammon, milk, apple -and meat! Might try it at home, without the meat perhaps. Tasted good though. When we got back to the house, we sat up talking with the kids. They, like many Albanians, wanted to leave, and wished they could swap with us in England. Clare had warned us of this attitude, so we went on about how amazing Albania is- which is true! I love it here.
