We walked along Darling Harbour to Chinatown for a 'banquet'- in other words- lots of food :D They've landscaped the whole area, presumably for the Sydney Olympics, with waterfeatures and tree lined parks- it looked quite like Paris in parts, and it was a really nice walk. After our big dinner (somewhat of a pattern here) we meandered our way back to the hotel.
We got up quite early this morning in time to pack, and checked out of our room at 10ish. Still had an hour to kill til the airport transfer came, so went on the internet for a while- didnt quite have enough time to finish before we had to jump on the shuttle. We were pretty close to the airport, and as soon as we got there we checked in, had breakfast and did a bit of shopping in the termindal. The flight was pretty uneventful- 3 hours long (although its scheduled time was half an hour later than was printed on the tickets which was weird). However- coincidence- we were sitting right next to Chris and Kim, who I'd met the day before. Weird as. Sydney is an hour ahead too becuase one of them dont have DST. So we didnt leave the airport til about 5 or 6. I sat up front in the shuttle bus, so got the occasional glimpses of the sun shining int the skyscrapers and then Darling harbour as we drove to our hotel. We're staying in the hotel Ibis, which is quite nice- no view of the harbour unfortunately, but in a great location- its a 2 minute walk to the harbour, and from there you can get ferries to Circular Quay (where the opera house is). Darling Harbour itself is just as nice though- bustling cafes and restaurants (about 40 of them) nice shops, Imax theatre- its all a bit classy really.
