We didnt have anything planned for today, so it was nice just to laze about in the sun for Christmas. Its so strange it being so hot here- you really forget its Christmas at all and we feel as if we've somewhat missed it. Happy Christmas to everyone reading this though- I hope you had a great day!

For once, mum woke up before me on Christmas morning (got to be a first) and woke me up so we could speak to Al and dad on their Christmas Eve. We ordered room service for breakfast (pancakes and muesli) because we only have a couple of days left with a kitchen so any food we bought would have to be thrown out anyway. We ate breakfast on the terrace and opened our presents- for all those who gave me cards or presents and are reading this- thankyou! I loved getting them brought out for me and it was great to know you were thinking of us. We were hoping to go to church, and despite my concerns that all the services started and 9 or 9:30, mum was sure that this church we'd found in the yellow pages wouldnt start til 10:30 (as told by the receptionist). So we called a cab, and drove down there- just in time to see them all milling out at the end of the service. Oops! As I thought, it had started at 9- I guess no-one wants to be out in the heat of the midday sun. So we drove back to the hotel, paid the taxi driver for our little escapade and went down to the pool instead (after watching a very Christian TV service that we dont think would have been aired in the UK) We spent most of the day lazing on the grass by one of the 4 pools, in the shade, with lots of suncream on, (and I still got a tan?!) It did get very hot and humid, but whenever we overheated, we just jumped in the pool to cool off. It was great! Definitely didnt feel like Christmas though. We were trying not to eat much becuase we had a reservation for the Christmas buffet for dinner, so we had cocktails for lunch in the bar :D

Dinner was nice- a bit pricey, and we didnt really feel like eating much, but it certainly was nothing like Christmas Lunch at home. I dont think they really get it. There was loads of salad, which was nice, but turkey, ham, fish and gnocchi for the main course with a couple of veggies thrown in. Not quite the same. Nice desserts though! I think we did quite well not eating too much, but still we somewhat waddled back to the apartment afterwards to watch Christmas TV (at least they got that bit right).
