Day 10....... Finish line at 3pm.
Today feels like it didn't really count. We are only 35 miles away and waiting for wellwishers to arrive to give us the heros' welcome my legs feel like they deserve.
The best breakfast ever we set off up and down the undulating A30. Arriving in Penzance with hours to spare, we parked the bikes and in set off insearch of a little retail therapy. I needed a dress for this evenings' celebrations as my new thigh musscles were a little strectched in my jeans.
After a cup of tea with another group of end to enders in the car park also in the "holding bay" awaiting their arrival time, we set off to Lands End. The last 10miles threw at us a couple of steepish hills just to let me know I had done some work that day. Robbie was waiting camera poised outside the First and Last Pub. We were to hide there until 3pm. I chose a seafood platter void of carbs, for the firsty time in 10 days I could eat what i wanted not what I had to.
3pm and the final sprint to the finish line. What a welcome. my knees went to jellly in the excitment. I had made it. Let the festivities begin.....!!!
9 days 2 and a half hours. 893.92 miles 91.67 hours in the saddle.
Time per mile 6 mins. 15 secs Average speed 9.75 mph.
The most mentally and physically challenging journey of my life to date. Not one to be repeated only as there are so many other paths to cycle.....
Thank You all for your sponsership and support I couldn't have done it without all those spirit pedallers along side me!
