Together with two other girls from the tour group, we hired some old style American bikes and went on a two hour ride around Yosemite National Park. We saw Yosemite Falls and Mirror Lake (which had dried up due to the weather). The scenery was stunning riding through the valley surrounded by tall cliff faces, pine trees and green grass. We were lucky enough to spot a pair of moose with velvety antlers and many squirrels. Some people from our tour group saw bears.

We departed Yosemite around lunch time and headed toward the small township of Bishop. On the way we stopped at Taradago Pass in the Sierra Nevada which is one of the highest points of elevation in North America. We hiked up a granite cliff face to the top of a mountain peak. From there we had an amazing view of Yosemite and its surrounds.

We arrived in Bishop late afternoon. On our way into town we stopped at a shopping complex and made the most of the opportunity to check out the fashions in America's version of Kmart. We then checked in to Days Inn and had a few hours to relax before heading off to tea.

Our tour group went to an All American Chinese buffet restaurant for tea. This was a good chance to get to know some more people on the tour and discuss some of the differences between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and India.

We then headed back to the hotel for some pre-drinks and then down the road to McMurphy's which is what Americans consider to be a dive bar- the same as pubs in Australia. The manager if the bar and our tour guide shouted everyone rounds of drinks. We all had a very enjoyable night and returned to the hotel around 1pm.
