Okay so I've been in Maastricht for about 5 days and I think the culture shock is starting to wear off. I've been in town every minute except for class and sleep so I'm starting to know my way around. The common bier here is heinekin, bavaria, grolsch, and brand bier. There's a lot more though, and we took to a place with a little lady named Emma (said erma). their bier is called orangeboom and the people are always really nice. one night i asked Emma where i could get and umbrella and she gave me one. They have a pool table with yellow and red balls, the table is smaller and so are the pockets so it's an entirely different game with different rules. some of the old guys (one is named Yors) like to look over your shoulder and tell you how to play and shoot right, it's a lot of fun. Lion is another regular there you say his name Leon but it's spelled lion so he makes lion actions when he introduces himself. Wednesday we went on a walking tour and saw some cool stuff around town. I have finished the first week off class, my teacher is from Wisconsin, and she's a funny old lady. I like her a lot, she knows a lot of useless information and just goes off on tangents all day. Our classes are 9-12 mon-thurs so we have a lot of free time. my class is called Transforming the traditional, the fate of the European fairy tale in the U.S. we haven't done much besides talk about different stories and we watch the Disney snow white so it's not very hard. So anyway, it's my fifth day and i'm finally settled in so hopefully now i can load up some pictures and all that good stuff. Still love it here, having a great time. Talk to you all soon -sarah
