My trip to Bornholm wasn't quite as exciting as expect, mainly because
as soon as a got there I got a major cold which kind of ruined the
whole physical aspect of the trip.  We left on Friday night and took an
overnight ferry to the island which is way out in the middle of the
Baltic.  The ferry was tiny, compared to the others I've seen around,
but it was very very nice.  I meant to take pictures of my cabin as
it's the most high class thing I've been on.  We got clean fluffy
bedding and our own toilet and shower...definitely not something that
happens at hostels...or did happen.

In fact, our hostel was more like camping.  It was located in the town
of Gudhjem, a small seaside village like most villages in Bornholm.
This particular city is bit less of a fishing port and more based on
tourism.  Our hostel was directly in front of the ocean, with tiny
rooms and some shady bathrooms.  We got there at about 7am, got some
breakfast, and attempted to bike.  Before I went no one had told me
that Bornholm is hilly.  Nothing in Denmark is hilly and usually when
people talk about the great biking...they mean the flat land.  To get
out of Gundhjem it was a climb straight up.  I didn't make it very far
as I already wasn't feeling too well.  So I went back down to Gudhjem
and took a nice nap.

I also didn't take many pictures as I was being lazy.  However, after
my nap, I did walk through the whole town.  The tourist season is
practically over and there weren't many bikers on the island besides
us.  However, the senior citizen tour bus business was still hopping.
I saw lots of old people hobbling around the island and buying
souvenirs.  Basically, everything was cute and quaint...and all that
nice stuff.  Actually, it was a very nice place to be sick in.  Here's
the view from the bus stop.

In the town of Gudhjem, there's lots of touristy cute places...and it's
CHEAP compared to Copenhagen.  I bought a troll shot glass.  Trolls are
a symbol of Bornholm.  I also got some presents.  They had a glass
blowing shop and the first toffee shop in Denmark, with free samples.
Also, lots of handmade everything from jewelry to art to sweaters.  And
lots of ice cream places which I took advantage of.
