I finally took pictures!

Right now, I'm living in Taasingegade 29, an apartment complex in Osterbro.  DIS rented out the whole second floor and just got done (mostly) doing tons of renovations.

Anyways...we'll start with the bathroom...the weirdest thing I've encountered so far in Denmark as Denmark hasn't been all that weird to begin with.

Notice the drain under the sink.  That's where all the shower water drains to, meaning the water can run all over the bathroom leaving a lovely trail of hair and other nasty things on the way.

Also, in typical European fashion, every single toilet flushes a different way.  However, most toilets here have two options for flushing.

You can have a half flush or a full flush, so you can save lots of water.

Then, you walk out of the bathroom into a little entry area with our wardrobes.

And into the main bedroom with me and my roommates' stuff.

This is my bed.  It's ridiculously comfy although the pillow is really square and not very wide.  There also is only a fitted sheet and not a regular sheet but the quilt is really fluffy.

This is my desk.  I also really need book ends as I have a ridiculous amount of books and they are overflowing.  The shelf next to it was built mainly by my roommate after I messed it up and it took a very strong guy to pull it apart.

And over in the corner is the very very tiny kitchenette.    It has two burners and a tiny fridge underneath.  One of the cupboards is really shallow...maybe for spices?  in other words...very useless to college students.  (We had to teach our roommate to boil pasta tonight hehe)

And that's it for my room, which is way at the end of the hallway.  From the hallway you can see the very very nice courtyard attached to our building.

Since we are all dumb Americans the biggest rule of living in these apartments is to NEVER EVER enter the courtyard.  It's for the nicer people.  However we have this view from our room.    Not bad...

And here's our common room:

It's fancy and decorated with pictures of...New York.  Oh and we have a flat screen tv now.

Oh and tomorrow I start classes.  I also picked up a class but I have a month to drop it if I have too much.  Right now I'm in:

The Impact of Epidemic Disease in Europe
Hans Christian Andersen and the Danish Golden Age
European Art of The 19th Century
Nordic Mythology
Independent Project having something vaguely to do with Medieval Art
Russia Past and Present (Only meets once a week and I need it to go to Russia.

Tomorrow all I have is Hans Christian Andersen.  Then I have to head over to the Kommune for my CPR number.  It's basically a social security number which allows me to get free medical care and check out books at public libraries. It does other things too but that'll about cover my use for it.  However, I do get it for life so if I ever come back I get health coverage again.  It also covers me anywhere in the EU.

Now I have to go look for something fun to do after I get out of class.  Something that doesn't involve shopping as it's very expensive and very tempting.
