Samia, my roommate from this summer at Conference Services, decided to study abroad in Israel.  On the way there, she had a whole day layover in London so she took the tube in and we saw London.  Look through the pictures and I think you'll be fairly impressed at what we conquered in one day.

We even ate lunch at a pub.  How British!

While most of the photos are self-explanatory, I should explain one of them.  Despite only have 6 hours to see London, we made one special trip on the tube to King's Cross Station.  King's Cross station is featured in the Harry Potter books because that's where Harry catches the train to go to school every year.

However, since he's a wizard, he has to catch it in a wizardy way.  The train to Hogwarts is at Platform 9 and 3/4.  Basically, in the book, it's a wall in between platforms 9 and 10 that they can walk straight through taking them to a secret platform.

I've recently learned that since the movies came out, workers at a King's Cross were having problems as tourists started coming to King's Cross and running into the wall between platforms 9 and 10.  In order to solve the problem, they have now hung up an actual sign for the platform and have taken one of the luggage carts, cut it in half and glued it to the wall so you, too, can act like you are going to Hogwarts without running at full speed towards a brick wall.
