I had to work on Christmas Eve.  I was scheduled 12-6.  The pub closed at 3.  However, we were all supposed to stay around and clean for 3 hours.  Luckily, everyone decided that nothing really needed cleaned that bad and we were done by 4.  I'm pretty sure we get paid until 6 anyways.  After that, we headed out to Spoons.  We go there...a lot.  Spoons is short for Wetherspoon's which is a chain pub.  It's like the McDonald's of pubs.  Usually it's open until 1 making it the after work stop as it's right down the block.  Since most places were closed, we had planned on eatting there too until we found out they weren't serving food.

The area I work in, by this point, was completely dead.  As usual, when we walked into Spoon's we also ran into our bosses and their family who had come for Christmas.  They were leaving to find food as we arrived.

Having found everywhere closed, they ended up at a Thai place which, after a drink at Spoons, we also ended up at as they were finishing their meal.  I should mention I didn't pay for a drink all night because our boss kept buying us drinks including getting us wine at the Thai restaurant.  Basically, they are ridiculously nice to us despite some of the strict rules at the pub.

Thai food is officially my new favorite thing.  Everything we had was awesome, which wasn't bad for going to the only place open and being the only people in the restaurant besides the boss and his family.

For appetizers, we had chicken wings (ehhh) and "crispy duck" which was basically mu shu duck that you wrap in the pancakes with sauce.  It was soooo good except for when I thought that the chili pepper was red pepper.  They also had these puffed cracker type things with sweet chili sauce on the table.  I got some kind of fried rice and I also tried the steak that Dave got.  It was all pretty spicy but good.  It was nice to have Asian food on New Years.  The local Chinese place was closed.

After that, we walked to the Wetherspoons (another one) down the road.  Last call was at 8 and our boss had also ended up there.  After that, he came back and opened up the pub where there were many more free drinks.  I've been bad about trying all the beers here.  So far, my favorite is the cherry beer.  None of the draft drinks seem to great.  The extra stout is good for a stout though.  I don't like Guinness and this is our Guinness equivilant and is much much better.  The wheat beer is...wheaty.
