Senga bay has been great fun. Two friends, both called George, from Mabuya in Lilongwe are now doing some volunteering in the communities there and we stayed at the same place. Then someone else from Mabuya turned up for a holiday and THEN two other people from Mabuya did because their car broke down! So we had a fab reunion, went to a local bar to play some pool last night, probably doing the same thing tonight. However, when i was playing it was pretty frowned upon by the local men because women don't normally ("and therefore shouldn’t", where’s the logic there eh!) play pool. the first time I nearly won, the second I didn't pot one ball. But it was still really fun. Did some sunbathing, read my book. Ate really tasty chips.

David (Mabuya resident) and I went to see one of the Georges play football in the local team vs Nkhotakota and started playing football with these children. There were about 50 young kids running around and they all crowd around the Mzungus. It was quite warm and I sat against my bag for a while and they all came and sat around me and just stared as I fanned myself with my hat. Like being in a zoo, was really creepy, so I taught them the hokey-kokey. I also bought some gum off a sweet seller that had Barack Obama pictures on the wrapper. They love him out here, some women even have his face on their chitenjes. Either him or Bingu, the Malawian president. I really want one with Bingu’s face on. Even though Bingu has gone a bit bonkers now.

Me and David got the bus back yesterday to Lilongwe, i arrived at Mabuya around 8.30pm, looking forward to a good greeting back to my African home and bloomin’ everyone was at movie night at the centre!!! Livid! So I hung out for a bit, checked emails and facebook. The greeting was suitably enthusiastic when they got back, with about 6 new vols, so they are forgiven.
