So its been awhile since we have updated the blog. Lots of changes since then.

We found a job at a Kiwifruit packhouse in a small town called Te Puke, about 25 mins from Tauranga. The job was full time nightshifts, 11pm-7am. We were "graders" so we sorted through all the fruit on the conveyor belts and picked out the misshapen and rotten fruit. We were living an a huge hostel type place with about 200 other people, all from the islands of Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. It was an interesting expereince living with all these great people. They all had such a great feel of community towards eachother. They ate together, cooked together, slept together etc etc. It was interesting to compare our food to theirs ... as we were making our little dinner with a salad, there they were boiling a pigs head and cooking about 300 potatoes.

During the time we spent in Te Puke, Will and I witnessed a horrible car accident. We were driving towards town on our day off around 7pm to meet some friends for the night. A stupid driver passed us and 3 other cars on the corner, in the dark and crashed, head on to an oncoming vehicle. It happened right in front of us and was terrible. Will and i got out and called the ambulance and tried to see if we could help. But there was absolutely nothing we could have done. Three out of the 5 people involved in the accident died before the ambulance had even arrived. We ended spending the next couple hours at the site since we werent allowed to leave until we had spoken to the investigators and the police. It was a pretty sad night.

We were both really shaken up about everything that we had just saw so luckly we had a couple days off. We were able to talk to a victim support women, through the police, so that helped a bit too. Between talking to her and taking care of eachother we will be just fine. Just takes a little while to get those thoughts and images out of your head.

Anwyays, on a more happier note we have decided that we are sick of working these low paying fruit jobs and are going to fly to Bangkok in a few weeks! We can last much longer in a cheaper part of the world and be in the sun and relax. We are going to spend about a week in the Melbourne area of Australia but thats about it. I guess we will just have to travel Australia on another trip of its own.

Before leaving Te Puke, we were also able to sell our car!!!!! It took much less time to sell then we thought and we were able to get more then our asking price! We were pretty happy about that. One less thing to worry about before we leave NZ.

For now, we are back in Tauranga nursing bad head colds. Going to hang out here for a few days, see some friends and then travel North towards Auckland.

Will and Sarah
We just read your latest blog. So sorry to hear of the horrible accident. Firstly I hope the victims families are able to manage through these horrible days; secondly I thank God for both of you being safe. I commend you both for phoning the ambulance and trying to help. Last night your mom dreamed that you were both home. I hope you always are safe and have a wonderful trip.
Love Pat

Hi from Nanaimo
Hi Sarah and Will,
I hope that all is well with you two. I sent you a message via facebook awhile back as I couldn't remember my login info for travel pod. Oops! We were all saddened to hear of your horrible experience. We certainly can understand the range of emotions that the two of you must have gone through (and perhaps still experience from time to time). We are all doing well here in Nanaimo. It is 32degrees at the moment! U. Greg is on Hornby painting the outside of the house with his brother for the week. Last weekend the three of us and Grannie and Granddad flew to PG for Laura and Gerry's graduation. It was wonderful. I have posted a couple of new albums on facebook that you could look at.
Take care and I better get back to writing my report cards.
Love A. Margie xoxo
