Spent the last few days at Whale Island, off the coast of Nha Trang. Gorgeous little private island with nothing but a beach and a bar- tough life ey! My throat is now really really bad meaning I can't enjoy the 4 course meals on offer! As well as sunbathing, we decided to trek around the island in the searing heat, meaning we got scratched to pieces and ate a few cobwebs. Still, at least we get to point to our scars and say "Got these in 'nam". Accommodation was a secluded jungle hut with lots of fireflies (sorry for screaming Paul) and frogs that sound like monks humming.
Snorkelling was good, apart from the evil sea urchins, and drank many a pinda colada (sarah) and mojito (amanda) at the beach bar.
After Whale Island, we got a train in Nha Trang to Saigon, where a local woman decided to gatecrash our cabin. She spoke no English, but with the aid of a phrasebook, we deduced she was a 33 year old married Communist party worker who wanted to marry John and thought that Amanda and I were intimate partners.Quite.
