Where I stayed
Moved on to Byron Bay on Thursday evening, after spending the day on the beach in Yamba (having the whole beach to myself with gorgeous white sand!)
Arrived at my hostel at 10pm and checked into my room. Hostel is really nice, bar downstairs and I get free dinner every night which is useful so save abit of money.
On Friday, I met up with Camilla, (the girl I met in Yamba) and we walked up to the lighthouse at Cape Byron. The views at the top of the hill were absolutely amazing, and we saw dolphins jumping in the waves down by the rocks. It's the most easterly point in Australia too, so it was basically 180 degrees of ocean! Beautiful.
Back down to the beach, watched a surfing competition, and bumped into a few people that I'd met in Sydney and Coffs Harbour which was nice. We had the free dinner in the hostel, and a few drinks in the bar, then went to a couple of other bars in the area with some girls from our room.
Saturday, I got up and did my washing!! (You wouldn't believe how nice it feels to have a rucksack full of CLEAN CLOTHES!!) Went to a little cafe for lunch with Camilla and looked round some real hippy shops, with the hippy owners talking to us about the spiritual history in the area!
Back at the hostel, we had the free dinner, then there was a Limbo competition at 9pm with a $50 bar tab as first prize!! We all had a go, and I came third!! (Unfortunately there was no prize for 3rd place, but we all got a free drink for entering) After the limbo comp, we went to Cheeky Monkey's, which was packed and I saw a few people that I met in Coffs again.
Today (Sunday) i've just been walking round the town centre all morning and walkign along the beach. It's so chilled out here it's gorgeous. I'm booked in my hostel til Tuesday, and might stay til thursday/friday then move further up the coast.
Will write again soon! Lots of love xx
