Better yet, there were skookum dryers in the Laundromat which meant I had the laundry done ( 3 loads!) inside 1 hour and then I got to sit, listen to my MP3 player and read my book for the last hour. Talk about luxury!!
The family eventually did return though, and we made our way, on a very bumpy highway, to St. Peters, another National Historic Site. I mention the bumps because my laptop went flying at one point on this road
St. Peter's Canal was a quick stop - no interpretive center here; just some plaques, explaining the significance of the site to the waterway travel of the area.
We then drove on to New Glasgow, where we eyed a Dairy Queen - Chloe's choice for her Birthday supper. We filled up (thanks for another treat, Uncle Zack!!) and punched in "Churches" on our GPS. Not far away, we found a Bible Baptist Church where we camped for the night. The kids (including the biggest one - Dennis) enjoyed throwing around a football on the site's extensive grounds. Then off to bed for a warm, muggy sleep. It's nights like these that make us truly appreciate the cool weather we've had!
