We are on our way to my very first white Christmas! We met Julie and Noah in the Denver airport and, after picking up our rental car, headed west on I-70 to Beaver Creek. Per the Bourland's recommendation we pulled off in Idaho Springs to find some lunch. After driving up and down the main street – Colorado Boulevard – we settled on barbecue. Whata great decision! Smokin Yard’s BBQ was some of the best pulled pork I’ve ever eaten. It’s a couple of hours drive from Denver to Beaver Creek, and on the way we experienced SNOW!!! It actually started snowing, big fat flakes falling from the sky. I was pretty excited. The other thing we noticed, and remember we’re from Houston & Phoenix so this is NOT the norm for us, were the frozen waterfalls. That was pretty impressive.

We arrived at The Ascent to a warm welcome from Logan, Kaya the Mountain Dog and the Bourland’s. We had a relaxing evening visiting with everyone and getting a tour of the facilities. Their condo is beautiful, and has some great amenities, including a shuffleboard table in the common room. Looking forward to some major shuffleboard tournaments!
