The serendipity of travel is really lovely- after failing to find a hotel with anything approaching a reasonable price in Nice, we opted to look for a campground again. On the edge of town there were signs for a couple, though they proved a bit difficult to find- several kilometres into the country on very narrow winding roads. We did manage to find our way to one, which looked very full, with several vehicles parked out on the road. They did have room though, and were so full because it was the night of a fete, with a singer and DJ, a full menu dinner, lots of wine and beer, and dancing (all ages, babies to elders). We got tents up and all headed to an outdoor table to enjoy a great party with a big bunch of happy French! The next day we had a swim in the pool before leaving, and were surprised when Kai was forbidden entry with his long swimming trunks in favour of shorter underpants- perhaps the french require more revealing swim wear! After we wound a long way into the surrounding hills to find a tiny medieval village perched on top of a hill- it was really lovely, and Hannah has decided she would like to move there!
