Tuesday, April 1

Myrtle Beach is about a 2.5 hour drive from Santee, but I need to stop along the way at Costco, Petsmart (Willow needs groomed), and a grocery store, so it will be a long day. Perhaps because I've been in the outback lately, MB looks to me like a shopper's paradise.

By 5 pm, I was camped at Pirateland RV Park, right on the beach. I have cable TV; first time in I can't remember how long. Most places I've been lately have no cable and I use the MH antenna to pull in whatever channels I can find.

I never really know whether I will like a campground so when I need to reserve ahead I try for about 7 days. All campgrounds want payment in advance. If I like it, I stay longer; if not, I'm on to the next campground. My reservation at Pirateland ends on April 11 and I WILL be moving on. To say I am not happy with the showers is an understatement!! Good Sam Club book rates the bathrooms here at 8.5. My rating would be 5.0. The park is old and not well maintained.

On April 11, I am moving to Lakewood Camping Resort which is just down the street, and also on the beach.

April 11 marks the start of the season for MB and camping rates are increased accordingly. You'll see from the pictures that Pirateland is about 1/3 full pre-season. One campground I especially liked was full for Easter weekend.

Hello Sandi!

This has been a while I wrote a comment on your blog.
For the last five weeks, I have been busy with an assignment in northern Bavaria.
Ruth and I came back on Friday,

Thank you for posting your pictures and your comments about the locations you have visited, I can you have had fun (for the most part) during your adventures on the east coast. After spending winter, spring must be very pleasant out there.

Please take care,

Laurent
