This is my first test of the new blog and a short note to let you know where I am.

We are in Menlo Park, CA, visiting with Kelly and Juan. The journey has finally begun!

Home repairs were completed on Wednesday, Aug 14: new drywall in living room and hall walls and ceilings, plastering,  painting, and clean up. Anxious to get on the road, I decided to refinish the floors when the house is next empty.

The following week was busy getting the motor home (myself and Willow) ready to travel. Even though none of us was totally ready, we set out about 10:00 am yesterday, and after a few stops to complete errands, arrived in Menlo Park about 4:30 pm.

The Sunseeker (see end of blog for more pictures) is a good-sized rig (26 feet) and driving it the first few times was a challenge. But as one friend said when before I bought it, "You'll get used to it," and I did.  I had back up and passenger side cameras installed to help me know where I am in relation to other vehicles, trees, rocks, people and such. I've learned to trust what I see in the cameras and that makes backing up and changing lanes so much easier.

Have not had time to plan my route yet but know that my first three stops will be in Santa Rosa, Paradise, and Reno (but not necessarily in that order) to visit friends and family.

Diana Vorne suggested I follow your blog as you are living my dream to the letter. I even want the same size of RV! I am newly single, 5 years from retirement and am anxious to see how you do with your adventure! I rooting for you from the side lines. Keep us posted!
