Lyon is known as the gastronomoic capital of the world since it has more restaurants than anywahere else in France. Lyon was once the capital of France before one of the kings (can't remember which) moved the capital to Paris. This was because Lyon could not be expnded far enough since 2 rivers ran through Lyon.
When we arrived in Lyon we immediately got into a walking tour of Lyon. Throughout Lyon there are many monuments to the Louis. Most notably is the monument King Louis the 14th (aka Sun King). There is a statue with him on his horse in the centre of a squuare. The outside of the square is arranged like a sun. We then got to walk through the shopping district and arrived at one of the rivers. There was an interesting bridge we got to cross called the swing bridge. It really does rock up and down when you walk on it and it feels really unstable.
We then arrived at the restaurant center of Lyon. So many restaurants in such a small area! This was where most of the group got to try their frogs legs and escargot. Although it was a pity because frogs legs were out of season. A group of us dined at a french restaurant and we got the most terrible service. Bloody french waiter wouldn't help us at all. He was one of the most arrogant people I have ever met. Anyway after a lot of questions to him ( the menu was in french) we finally got our food. I didn't feel like trying snails but some others did. They said they didn't taste like much since they were covered in garlic.
At this stage I wasn't feeling my best so I headed home that night to rest myself for Paris. Nothing else interesting happened Lyon but we were heading for Paris the next morning.
