Hi everyone,

Hope you're still with me, I know I’ve gotten behind so I hope this marathon session of adding everything at once doesn’t confuse you and/or make you give up all together. There’s a mountain of updates to give you but take them at your own pace I don’t want to be responsible for anyone falling asleep at the office/burning the dinner/or resorting to Dickins novels for some light reading alternatives.

En route to Lima we had an overnight stop at a beach called Puerto Inca (although no more Inca links here you may be pleased to hear).  Unfortunately even though this area gets rain only 4 days in the year it was completely overcast and grey while we were there but still warm and no rain at least!  Plus this was the first time for a month that we were no longer at altitude and as our bodies had adjusted to cope with little oxygen, upon our return we were invariably superheros!!  We proved this fact by playing some hardcore, extreme beach volleyball and not even getting out of breath.  Then we were just about to test our inhuman abilities even further when we decided that a massive beach barbeque and some bottles of wine would be more in keeping with our trip.

This turned into a very fun night around the campfire and we fell asleep listening to the waves crashing on the beach – always a great way in my opinion.  The next morning after eating breakfast watching seals play in the waves, we packed up for our route to Nazca and on the way stopped to visit some burial grounds in the desert, many of these have been looted and robbed so the ones we visited were under armed protection (hence no souvenirs from there!) we wondered if it was in poor taste to point out that one mummy bore a striking resemblance to Bob Marley and then decided it was funny and he probably wouldn’t mind.  One worrying thing here though was seeing a bright yellow scorpion in the desert and as we are planning to sleep in the desert in the next few nights my concerns were rising, but that’s another story…

Lots of Love,

Amy and Superhero Steve
