We packed up and drove out early this morning, passing lots of deer on the way (some of which were on the road, stock still, and didn't move. No wonder they become road kill so often!) We chose the scenic drive out, which passes along the Lost Coast. Turns out it was an annoyingly long and winding road which left us both feeling a little queasy. We did get some occasionally beautiful views though.

A bit further up the coast we stopped at the beach for a brief stroll and blast of fresh air, before continuing on to Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. We pitched up at Elk Prairie Campground before going on a little walk. Neither of us were feeling great so decided to take it easy. We took the Revelation Trail which took us round some huge old trees, with placards of information to educate us about the forest. Again, we were suitably impressed with the grand size of the giant trees.

We later sat out on a grassy field to soak up a bit of sunshine, before deciding to cook. Afterwards we snuggled up in the car to watch a movie on the laptop, and watched silently as 3 elk walked right in front of the car and then past our tent! A mother and 2 young ones I think. It's great being amongst the wildlife!
