Waiau Farm

On the bus to Riverton where we visited a Paua shell factory, these are really pretty blue/green shells they make nice jewellery from. Then onto Waiau Farm! We put some big gumboots on and got to feed lambs some milk, very cute and have a suprisingly strong suck- I almost got pulled over. I managed to squirt it in the eye aswell. Also fed some sheep a few food pellets before watching the sheepdogs in action- so skilled and impressive and the sheep were pretty stupid. After they were all rounded into a pen in the barn the dog was running over the tops of their backs barking.

Next was our turn to have a go at shearing a sheep. Hmmm. I was rubbish as I was so scared of cutting it but of course was nowhere near and left it too thick and patchy apparently. Also was holding it firmly enough so it managed to buck and wriggle away. Guess I wont make a very good sheep farmer.

Once we'd finished at the farm we continued on to Te Anau. A lovely spot right on the Lake Manapouri.
