Made it to Taupo in time for a good pub quiz in the evening. Then had a wander round the town in the morning before doing the Rock n Ropes in the afternoon. It was a big high wire course where you were climbing up poles and about 50 feet up, navigating rickety bridges, stepping logs and tight rope wires. Everything was so wobbly (and it was windy!) with nothing to hold onto it was a long way down! After successfully (but terrifyingly) completing that we had the option of doing the big 'leap of faith'. Always one to give in to peer pressure I found myself scaling the giant vertical pole standing alone getting higher and higher until I reached the top. So about 50-60 feet off the ground I then had the challenge of standing on top of the pole. Now this may sound simple but bearing in mind its less than the length of my shoe across and there is nothing around to hold onto, its swaying in the wind and did I mention very high up, its actually quite tricky.

I did manage after some fumbling, and stood tall on the top of this pole feeling rather isolated and dizzy. They then asked me to jump off the pole and leap to grab the trapeze bar where they could then safely lower me down. The bar I needed to grab seemed like a million miles away but after a few deep breaths I hurled myself off and ta-daaaaa! Was left dangling gripping for life to the trapeze bar. Victory!!

Finally there was a giant swing where you climbed up a ladder to a platform, got hooked up and then jumped off. This time you fell for probably around 10 metres before swooosh the cable tightens and you're launched into a long sweeping swing. Woohoo!

So had a pretty good day at Taupo 'facing the fear' n that.
