Hopped on our Oz Experience bus which was eventually gonna take us all the way up the East Coast of Australia. Had the best driver ever called Forrest who was an absolute true legend, driving the big coach in barefoot while keeping us in hysterics for the journey. Our first stop was Barrington Tops, basically in the middle of nowhere outback region. Lovely and remote with horses strolling around the camp and a river with little waterfalls, and nothing there except our accomodation and a social building with a bar. Great!

So first of all, a refreshing splash about and swim in the river as its so hot, and then started a friendly volleyball game on a patch of sand which soon escalated into a mini war with everyone joining in! I then encountered a ginormous cockroach in the shower. We had all-you-can-eat stonebaked pizzas which were delicious, cooked to perfection in a proper stone oven, and chilled out awaiting the night...

One of the only places in the world that you can do it, we went night kayaking! Very exhilerating as we are kitted up, transferred to a higher section and trekking through the forest in pitch black to the river. With only the moonlight to guide you we then had to navigate grade 3 rapids in single kayaks. Clearly not the most efficient way to make it down the river course but certainly a lot of fun! Couldnt really see anything. At all. So spent most of the journey hitting rocks and getting swirled round, bumping into everything and each other. Pretty slow going in sections but great suspense and thrills as you hear the people in front go 'ooph' and 'argh' and 'bloody hell'!

Enjoyed our stay and experience here and were even lucky enough to spot some wild wallabees as we left!
