Roadtrip!!

After the 6 ish hour journey up to the Yorkshire Dales we drove straight to Malham through the tiny winding Postman Pat roads. From there we ambled through green fields and along a trickling river to the impressive Malham Cove. As we got closer the size of it became more and more magnificent towering up above.

We then took a footpath which took us around the side and then up onto the top of it. From here there was a welcome breeze and spectacular views into the valley below. Continueing along this trail we went through more fields amongst this beautiful countryside. Plenty of sheep about.

Next we went to the Janet Foss waterfall; a pretty little spot with a lovely clear pool to dip toes in and even a cave to explore. Walking further on this path we found lots of smelly garlic plants, enchanting foresty bits along a babbling brook (!) and then more sheep and fields.

The next day we decided to do the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, a 4.5 mile walk which leads you through ancient oak woodland and magnificent Yorkshire Dales scenery via a series of stunning waterfalls and geological features. It felt very magical in places and there was opportunity for me and Rach to scramble up rocks into a cave, walk the plank along fallen trees and even climb up behind the biggest waterfall- Thornton Force. An adventurous and scenic day out!

On Saturday morning we said goodbye to our host Andrew at Fernside B&B; which by the way was lovely- huge fresh breakfasts and rooms with a view (and homemade cookies!); and stopped at White Scar Caves to take a tour underground. That was pretty cool with some interesting features such as an underground waterfall, lots of stalagmites and stalagtites ending in 'Battlefield Cavern'- an impressively large cave with throusands of tiny delicate stalagtites adorning the roof.
