It's our last night in Helsinki. The bags are more or less packed and we're just about ready for the journey back home tomorrow.
Today we've spent the day relaxing and mooching around the city centre doing a bit of shopping and looking a lot like tourists.
This evening we got a call from Mick and Marie telling us they were in the pub and that there was a nice table empty next to them if we wanted to join them. Naturally we did. So we paused the packing and headed into the centre with the plan of having a drink with them and then going on to get something to eat before heading back to the apartment to finish the packing and have a reasonably early night. Mick and Marie are flying home tomorrow, the price of changing their flights was silly. They'll be coming back to Helsinki if the girls reach the finals. They have the same plan as us to fly in on the Thursday and back out again on the Friday. No need to book a hotel, just enjoy the match and the celebrations (regardless of the outcome) and then grab a few hours kip in the airport before catching the next plane home. So, in theory, our plan this evening was a good one. Mick and Marie need to pack for their flight home, so they weren't going to be late back to the hotel either. Well, it didn't go quite to plan (unsurprisingly) and we got in about 10 minutes ago. The time is now 1.30am. Bernie, Steve and Tim were in the pub as well. They had popped in for a beer this afternoon and were planning on a reasonably early night too. We sat and had a few drinks (well, the Bernie, Steve and Mick drank, the rest of us were on tea for the evening), had a lot of laughs and just relaxed. Bernie, Steve and Tim are doing some flags for Thursday's match (one for Kelly's mum, one for Mick & Marie and one for us) so we've given them one of our giant markers and a spare flag. They were very excited at their gifts! It was a great evening and a lovely end to the trip.

Our flight tomorrow is about 2pm, and we land back in England about 3pm, onto the train home and should have our feet up with a decent cup of tea by about 4.30pm. Just in time to check the Sky+ box has worked properly so we can watch the matches all over again!

Big love,
Sam & Lisa xx
