I can tell you this much, that this trip is already so much different from the one before. I have already been in two cities so far, but have been able to chill and enjoy the sunshine as it is so much more hotter over here and enjoy the people walk by! The environment is relaxed, the people are relaxed, and everything is as they say, tranquil! I am loving it over here. There are a couple in the corner of the street dancing Tango. There is a massive music stage in the middle of the Plaza, on which they are currently playing U2 and it seems they have a big concert tonight, which we are thinking of going to.

I left Colonia yesterday in the morning around about 10:30. The bus journey from Colonia to Montivideo was about 3 hours. It took a while to get comfortable on the bus, specially when the driver had switched off the air conditioning waiting for everyone to get on the bus first. That was torture. It is very humid here and much hotter than other places in SA so far. Wait till we reach Brazil! YIKES! Once the bus got moving, I became tranquil and once the AC kicked it, I felt like I was sitting on ice! The scenery was beautiful. It is much more greener here, than anywhere else, with the beautiful palm trees, which gives it the all tropical look. There are many old Chevrolet here, so it truly looks like the old American movies set in the farm with wide open spaces and heresies running in the field. I love it. And the people are good looking and nice, which is always a bonus.

Last night I finally went out! I had dinner with the group at a fantastic Italian restaurant, which sadly didn't live up to the expectations of the Swiss/Italian girl we have on the group, but I thoroughly enjoyed my Risotto. We lost Diego who is one of the trainee local guides from Peru. He apparently had fallen sleep in his room. My group consists of Swiss, Austrian, British (1), Bulgarian/British and Australian. I am sharing a room with Catherine from Australia, she is very nice. In fact the whole group is really nice. The oldest is Trudy, from Austria who is 42 and she doesn't look a day older than 28! I was shocked when she told me her age! The secret! Not being married and no kids! I am sticking to that! :) I am kinda the youngest again, although James and George are my age, a few months older or a few months younger, depending on which one of my birthdays you take into account! Remember I am sticking to the one in September now, since it is almost near! :)

The main guide, Maria is from Mexico, she is lovely. After dinner last night, we all went out for a few drinks, something which didn't happen on the last trip and it was nice to have a laugh and a dance and everyone seems to be comfortable with their moves. I was on the role when they put on Regatone, I was in heaven! :) We started off with a bit of Salsa and Samba and once the live music was finished they moved onto Regatone. The Samba music was played by a Brazilian guy, which as I looked at him, I thought to myself, if all the men in Brazil look like that, I am going to be just fine! I may never return to the UK! :) He came over and showed us a few moved and gave the thumbs up as he watched us dance! I was quite pleased with myself! And then it all got too fast for me and I was very confused! The time I went to bed, was about 5:30 in the morning, and last night was not even a party night, but tonight is! :)

The inevitable has also happened! I have forfeited my flight back to the UK and have extended my stay here in SA to go and explore Cuba for a few weeks! Although at this moment it is just a 2 week extension to my stay here and I will still be back in the UK in June.Unless I decide to go and see a few friends in Mexico and then decide that I should just stay here and learn Spanish!

This morning, or shall I say this afternoon as I opened my eyes by the sound of the telephone ringing in the room, a massive headache reminded me of the night before and while I was lying on bed thinking of my Salsa moves with Maria, I told myself I will not drink tonight! We left the hotel for a very late breakfast or as I would rather call it a very early lunch with a fantastic coffee at a not so nearby Cafe. I am going to go and explore the town for a little bit longer. We have many free days on this tour, but that is why I chose Intrepid, because they are very independent and ideal for the energetic travelers whom like to do things in a group as well as on their own. Diego is sitting next to me chatting to one of his many girlfriends and asking me how to spell things. I am quite happy to help as long as it doesn't get to descriptive!
