After our meeting last night and getting to know everyone, we headed out for dinner and had yet again hot, spicy Green currey with Chicken! I love this food, but it is very spicy. This morning with the group we headed to visit Bangkok on the river on a relatively large, but unstable boat! Then again all the boats here seem like they are going to capsize.

We visited most of the places we went to see yesterday with Steve, but this time we were on the water and eventually we visited the temple where originally it was used by teachers and students to teach and learn Thai massages and Yoga. It was quite nice. There is also the Lord Buddha statue lying down, which measures upto 46 meters in the length. It is quite impressive.

In Thailand, the main religion is Buddhism. 95% of the population are Buddhists and the remaining are muslims, Hindu, Sikh and others. There are over 700 temples in Thailand and over 400 temples in Bangkok. There is only one Lord Buddha, unlike Hinduism where there are 27 Gods.

It is in some ways similar to China. The biggest difference you see is their eating habits. In China in most of the local markets where you buy food, the animals are alive and the Chinese like to see the animal alive and kill it then and there. In other countries even in Tibet and Nepal, that is not the case.

We are leaving Bangkok this afternoon and catching an overnight train into Chiang Mai. I am quite excited. We have been told that there are no ATMs in Laos which we will get there in a couple of days so I am not sure how equiped they are with internet and all that. I guess I will see. We will be back in Thailand in approximately one month.
