After our long journey on the bus from Antalya to Cappadocia, we were taken to a Turkish bath. It was fantastic! Last time I was this clean and spotless, was when I was about 7! I remember my grandmother used to take me to this public bath (Hamam) in Shahroud (small town in the North west of Iran). She used to scrub and scrub using Liefa and white exfoliating soap, which we call sephidab! I remember standing outside the Hamam in my tight white scarf, with rosey cheeks, feeling extremely hot and aggitated by the amount of scrubbing and wanting to go and lie in ice cold water to ease the pain! :) Well today`s experience was something like that! As we arrived in the Turkish bath, we were given towels and were told to go and sit inside on this big marble. One of the guys would then come and take two people at a time. One person would exfoliate you and the other would massage you. In other words one would skin you alive and the other would beat the daylight out of you! :) After all the aches and bashing around, I have to say I felt very good, but I was very unhappy as the guy who was exfoliating me told Borac (our tour guide) that apparently I hadn`t been bathing or showering sice birth! :( My skżn felt so smooth and I felt like a new woman! :) It is safe to say that although Steve was holding onto his towel with dear life he had thoroughly enjoyed his experience of Turkish Hamam.
